Timothy Richard

Timothy Joseph Richard, 70, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Saturday, November 19, 2022 in the comfort of his family’s presence.

His life began July 5, 1952 in South Bend, Indiana, the oldest of eight children born to Adrian and Rogene Richard. He married Clare “Kay” Louise Claussen Fitzgerald July 5, 1990 in Vandalia, Michigan.  After thirty years of marriage, she preceded him in death in 2020.

Timothy grew up on his family’s farm and farming became his passion. He was a great provider and took pride in taking care of his family.  He was a hard worker and instilled that in his children. He enjoyed his family and friends and found ways to gather everyone together. He drove semi for over eighteen years. He was a simple man that enjoyed being outside mowing in his yard or tinkering in his wood shop. He loved old western movies.  

Timothy will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by two daughters, Tracy Richard, Linda (Matt) Massengill, both of Bremen, Indiana; one son, Robert Richard of Cathedral City, California; one step-daughter, Lisa (John) Adams of Dowagiac; two step-sons, Danny (Kim) Fitzgerald of Missouri, Todd Fitzgerald of Elkhart, Indiana; five grandchildren; four step-granddaughters; two great grandchildren; twin step-great granddaughters; his mother, Rogene Richard of South Bend; four sisters, Marilyn (Chris) Richard Simmons of Tennessee, Becky (Marty) Shupert of Kansas, Karen Richard of South Bend, Beth (Jeremy) Howard of Tennessee; two brothers, Tom (Kristi) Richard of South Bend, Mark Richard of Missouri; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Richard; one brother, Terry Richard; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Richard.           

The family will observe a private remembrance.
