Steven John Schuur

Steven John Schuur, 65, of Decatur, died Saturday, May 9, 2026.

His life began July 29, 1960, in Dowagiac, Michigan, to Bob and Louise Schuur.  He married the love of his life, Sally A. Lane, in October of 1997. 

Steve and Sally enjoyed attending community events together, including Bingo, Spring Fling, the Apple Festival, the Cass County Fair, and many local parades.  They also loved thrift shopping for collectibles.  In his younger years, Steven proudly participated in the Special Olympics.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Sally A. Schuur of Decatur; his stepmother, Donna Schuur of Dowagiac; his father-in-law, Thomas Rutherford of Cassopolis; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Sylvia Rutherford.

Family and friends will gather for a memorial service Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 4:00 pm in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.

Steve will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.
