Mr. Steve Curtis Moragne, Sr., 69, of South Bend, Indiana, died Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home.
His life began in Evanston, Illinois, on October 9, 1956, to Adolf Moragne and Emma Norvelle Winters.
Steve retired from Elkhart Brass, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment. Outside of work, he found great joy in fishing and had a deep love for all kinds of animals, including snakes. He always had a dog by his side, treating each one like a cherished member of the family. Steve was also known as a very talented chef, often sharing his love through food, and he will be remembered for his beautiful, warm smile that could light up any room.
He married Deborah Sue Collins on June 21, 1975, in Cassopolis, Michigan. After thirty-six years of marriage, Deborah preceded him in death on April 27, 2012.
Steve will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Charles Rae (Russell) White of Tacoma, Washington, and Dr. Candice (Daniel) Render of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and one son, Steve Curtis Moragne, Jr. of South Bend, Indiana.
He also leaves to cherish his memory ten grandchildren: Ashley Collins of Tacoma, Washington; Kyle Collins and Kaylin Collins of Palmdale, California; Daniel James Render of Indianapolis, Indiana; Lovette Basnight Jr. of Grovetown, Georgia; Russell White of Tacoma, Washington; Isaiah Moragne of South Bend, Indiana; Kadin Render of Savannah, Georgia; Mackenzie Render of Irvine, California; and Landon Moragne of South Bend, Indiana.
Additionally, he is survived by three great-grandchildren: Romeo Collins and Taylor Collins of Palmdale, California, and Damien Basnight of Grovetown, Georgia; his brother, Dr. Sydney Moragne of Jackson, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf Moragne and Emma Norvelle Winters; his beloved wife, Deborah Moragne; and his stepmother, Willie Lee Gary.
Mr. Moragne will be laid to rest with his wife in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis, on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
