Stephen Parsons, 77, of Cassopolis Michigan, died peacefully Thursday March 5, 2026 in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began September 16, 1948 in Dowagiac Michigan the eldest son of seventeen children born to Loyd Parsons and Aleyne (Doris) Gleason.
He married Janet Wantowski on October 29, 1983 in Petoskey Michigan.
Steve served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Steve was a hard worker and loved being outdoors and doing various activities such as cutting wood (anything involving his sawmill), hunting, and fishing. He had a love for local history and collecting vintage local milk bottles. You could find Steve at the local McDonald’s getting his daily cup of coffee or spending time with one of his many siblings.
Steve will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by daughter, Stacey Parsons (Jonathan Fairley) of Mishawaka, Robert Wantowski (Jessica Wolski) of Vandalia;
Grandchildren, Paige (Stephen) Smoody of Marcellus, Olivia Wantowski of Cassopolis, Lucas Wantowski of Lawton, Blake Wantowski of Marcellus; great grandson, Easton Smoody; Sisters, Linda (Charles) Francis, Cheryl Parsons, Beverly (Tom) Harris, Cathy Eberhardt, Mary (Jeff) Snyder, Elizabeth (Steve) Lee, Pam (James) Young; Brothers, Mark (Betsy) Parsons, Matthew Parsons, Doug (Amy) Parsons, Dan Parsons, Mike Parsons, Pat Parsons and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years Janet Parsons. His sisters, Phyllis Garber, Susan Hutchings, and Martha Rice.
Family will have a private gathering at-a-later-date and time to remember the life of Steve.
