Sheila Hensley Obituary

Sheila Ann Hensley, 69, of Cassopolis, passed peacefully Saturday, December 27, 2025 in the comfort of her family’s presence. Her life began May 25, 1956 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the first of eight born to Frank and Violet Newton.

Sheila graduated from Lake City High School in 1974. She went on to be a certified nursing assistant, working for Cass County Medical Care Facility. Every year, Sheila would make a unique birthday cake for each child, making sure they had something they each enjoyed. She could often be found watching television, with her dogs. Her favorite shows being, Supernatural, Dexter and Vampire Diaries. Sheila was an avid gardener, outside caring for her plants every day.  She loved to take her grandchildren fishing, making sure she packed a snackle box. She would often catch more fish than Gary, despite his fancy equipment. Sheila and Gary would also spend time together with their horses. 

Sheila will be greatly missed by family and friends.  She is survived by one daughter, Tiffany (LaMonte) Joiner of Edwardsburg; two sons, John (Nicole Dyda) Hensley of Cassopolis, Nathan Hensley of Cassopolis; three grandchildren, Matthew Hensley, Uri Joiner, Davi Joiner; two sisters, Mary Hanson, Ruby Hyser; one brother, Jerry Newton and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald Hensley in 2005, her companion Gary Hughes in 2025, her siblings, Pete Newton, Mark Newton, Jane Fogg and Tim Newton.
