Sharon Kay Wright, age 78, of Edwardsburg, died peacefully at home Monday, September 6, 2021 in the comfort of her family’s presence.
Her life began May 31, 1943 in Dowagiac, Michigan, born to Richard Bowers and Norma Carter Bowers. When Sharon was three, Norma remarried Clifford “Tuffy” Towles and he adopted her in 1950. She married Owen Ray Wright August 27, 1961 in Vandalia, Michigan. Sharon and Owen celebrated their sixty-year anniversary this year.
Sharon cherished her family and was a community mother. Her children and grandchildren will always remember that she was at every game or event they had. She made pies for church functions and chocolate chip cookies for sporting events. They will be remembered and fondly missed. Sharon grew up on a farm and was a member of 4H. Her grandmother and mother taught her how to bake. Sharon played cards frequently with family and friends. She was an avid bocce ball player when she spent time in Florida. Her children will remember the family camping, canoe, and snowmobiling trips they enjoyed together. She often enjoyed mushroom hunting. Sharon always wore a smile. She was an avid Notre Dame football and NASCAR fan. She was a huge Jeff Gordon fan.
Sharon was a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ for a majority of her life. She was a member of Rainbow, Eastern Star. She was a proud and active member of the Centreville High School Class of 1961. She was a secretary for the family business, John Wright & Sons, Inc. for many years.
Sharon leaves to mourn her memory and carry on her legacy her husband, Owen R. Wright of Edwardsburg; one daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Galloway of Edwardsburg; one son, Jeffery (Laurie) Wright of Edwardsburg; three grandsons, Ryan T. Wright, Stephan O. Wright, Jack J. Nehl; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Bowers of Three Rivers; sister-in-law, Linda Towles of Middlebury, Indiana; and many extended family members, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tim Towles.
Family and friends will gather Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. at the Pavilion on the grounds of Pleasant View Church of Christ, 60550 Crooked Creek Road (corner of State Road 60) in Cassopolis. The service will also be available on Radio 87.9 in the church parking lot. Mrs. Wright will be laid to rest Monday, September 13, 2021 with a Committal service at 9:00 a.m. in Birch Lake Cemetery in Vandalia.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Mrs. Wright be made to Pleasant View Church of Christ, 60550 Crooked Creek Road, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031, or to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
