Sharon Evans Obituary

Sharon Kay Evans, 74, of Vandalia, died peacefully Sunday, November 17, 2024, in the comfort of her family’s presence.

Her life began December 6, 1949, in Niles, Michigan, the second of three children born to Donnie and Donna Knepple.

Sharon had a knack for stirring up mischief and an infectious laugh.  She was known as the “life of the party” with her penchant for whacky antics.  She was always ready with a joke and a smile.  She had a place in her heart for every friend and family member.  Sharon enjoyed crafting, including card making and calligraphy, and making Christmas items.  She shared her talent by teaching some classes to her Florida friends.

She was formerly a massage therapist which earned her the nickname of Aunt ‘Sage.

Sharon was born and raised on Donnell Lake in Vandalia, along with a slew of cousins.  She enjoyed water sports her entire life.  She was even credited for saving the life of a friend from drowning.  She always wanted to return to Donnell Lake and was fortunate enough to spend her last two years living there.

Sharon will be greatly missed by family and friends.  She is survived by daughter, Kanisha Evans; grandson, Nathan LaMothe; sister, Judy (Paul) Rutherford; brother, Scott Knepple; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends will gather from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, in the Penn Township Hall, 60717 South Main Street, Vandalia, for a time of sharing memories and telling stories.

Her cremains will be scattered in Donnell Lake and various locations she cherished.

The family prefers contributions in memory of Sharon be made to Centrica Hospice, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009 or to the Cass County Council on Aging, Post Office Box 5, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
