Marion Miller Obituary

of Marion Miller
Marion Koch Miller, age 87, of Spring Brook community in Harbert, Michigan died on Friday, March 16th a few days after a stroke. Born December 9, 1930, she was the daughter of Harold Edward and Margaret Thomas Koch of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, sister to James (d.) and Margaret (d.) and wife of Clark Thompson Miller with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Mother of seven adult children, Jane, Martha, Andrew, Philip, Mary, Stephen, and Christopher, grandmother of ten, and great grandmother of seven. She was a devoted member of her churches, serving in many volunteer capacities at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest, Illinois and Harbert Community Church in Harbert. Marion grew up on a Wisconsin lake with a large number of beloved cousins. She attended Carleton College from 1948-51 where she met Clark, but completed her B.A., after raising her children, at Rosary College in 1983 (now Dominican University) in River Forest, Illinois, where she then served as Executive Assistant to the President. Her professional career then included serving as Executive Associate to the President of the Park Ridge Center for the Study of Health, Faith and Ethics in Chicago, Illinois. She was an avid quilter, reader, and lover of music and the arts, and active within a wide circle of friends and a broad extended family. Her good humor and caring and supportive loving spirit were appreciated by all and an inspiration to many. She enjoyed travel and was always curious about ideas, cultures, and the world, and was grounded in a strong Christian faith. She and Clark spent a number of their retirement years in senior communities in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Ithaca, New York, always returning to their Harbert home for summers, and in later years, to stay.
