Larry Neal Johnson, 75, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Thursday, July 31, 2025 in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began June 13, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, the first of five children born to John and Mabel Johnson. He married Deborah Collins on April 7, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois.
Larry loved the mechanics of working on cars and spent a lot of time rebuilding engines and fixing cars of all kinds. He enjoyed taking his wife, Deborah, out on cruises and traveling together. They spent twenty-seven years driving across the country trucking. A special memory for them was going to Indianapolis and Cincinnati watching the drag races. Larry was an avid Chicago Bears and Bulls fan. He loved his food, especially fried chicken, and steak. Larry was always well dressed and was the suit salesman’s favorite customer. Known for his infectious laugh, Larry was always kind hearted and filled with wisdom.
Larry will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Deborah Ann Johnson of Cassopolis; one son, George Henry Johnson of Fort Wayne; one brother, Johnney Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Darlene Johnson, Pamela Johnson; and one brother, George Johnson.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis. Military Honors will be rendered at 3:00 p.m. by active members of the United States Air Force and the Honor Guard of Lt. William E. Lozier VFW Post # 10704.
