Ivan Lloyd Hooper, 85, of Three Oaks, died peacefully Sunday, March 14, 2021 in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began February 28, 1936 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the fourth of eleven children born to Norval and Jennie Hooper. He married Carol Fausch July 16, 1955 in Michigan City, Indiana.
Ivan was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed NASCAR. He enjoyed working on his tractors and tinkered with everything. In the ‘60s, he owned a Sinclair Service Station in Three Oaks. He worked at Nottingham Ford in Three Oaks for a number of years. He also worked Oselka Construction in Union Pier. He then went on to work for and retired from Central Transport. He began as a mechanic and then drove trucks for them.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Carol Hooper of Three Oaks; his children, Peggy Hooper of Niles, Pam Hooper and Penny Taylor, both of LaPorte, Indiana, Paul Hooper of Three Oaks; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Zola Shott, Lola Brown, Gladys Harkrider; one brother, John Hooper; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Wanda Williams, Wilma Kenshelo, Jimmy Hooper, Delbert Hooper, Larry Hooper, Billy Hooper.
The family will observe a private remembrance.
Ivan will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
