Gina Marie Johnson, 46, of Vandalia, died peacefully Friday, June 10, 2022 in the comfort of her family’s presence.

Her life began October 2, 1975 in Elkhart, Indiana the younger of two daughters born to Earl Dean and Tennie Smartt. She married Todd Allan Johnson June 26, 2004 in Elkhart, Indiana.

Gina loved life and cherished her family.  She had a passion for animals, but especially horses.  She was a very giving person and loved to do and take care of others.  She enjoyed driving big rigs and any large heavy equipment.   She was happiest being outdoors.  Gina was a true country woman.

Gina will be greatly missed by family and friends.  She is survived by her husband of eighteen years, Todd A. Johnson of Vandalia; one daughter, Samantha Johnson of Vandalia; one son, William (Hannah) Werner of Cassopolis; three grandchildren, Emily, Ruth, Paul; her father, Earl (Mary) Dean of Vandalia; her grandmother, Pat Smartt of Elkhart; four sisters, Joann Dean of Vandalia, Amanda Dean of Syracuse, Indiana, Allision (Steven) Greenlee of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Melissa (Tiffany) Jackson of Nappanee, Indiana; three brothers, Howard Jackson Jr. of Plymouth, Indiana, Andrew (Michelle) Jackson of Nappanee, Indiana, Brian Dean of Mishawaka, Indiana; and one nephew, Larry Wright of Edwardsburg.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her grandfather, Chuck Smartt; her great grandmother, Susan Shoemaker; one aunt, Penny Juday; and one nephew, Travis Dean.             

Family and friends will gather Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 4:00 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.
