Fannie Clarentine Mitchell, 85, of Cassopolis, formerly of Decatur, Michigan, died peacefully Friday evening May 2, 2025.
Her life began August 30, 1939 in Moark, Arkansas the oldest of four children and only daughter born to Raymond and Lettie Avery. She married Ivan “Ike” Elzie Mitchell in Poplar City, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Fannie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by one son, Glen Mitchell of Decatur; two brothers, Raymond Otto (Linda) Avery of Burr Oak, Michigan, James Arthur (Joyce) Avery of St. Petersburg, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry A. Mitchell; and one brother, Herman Avery.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. in Volinia Baptist Church, 19526 Marcellus Highway, Decatur with Pastor Thomas Stout officiating. Mrs. Mitchell will be interred beside her beloved husband in Nicholsville (Rose Hill) Cemetery in Volinia Township.
