Dorothy Janice Sachjen, 87, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Monday, July 29, 2024, in the comfort of her family’s presence.
Her life began February 12, 1937, in Bentley Corners, Michigan, the oldest of five children born to John and Irene Beyers. She married John Wilkie Sachjen September 10, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After sixty-three years of marriage, he preceded her in death December 24, 2018.
Dorothy cherished her family and they were her joy. She was an awesome cook and baker. She enjoyed crocheting, taking care of kids, camping with John, and barbeques. She was a charter member of Creekside Missionary Church in Dowagiac and loved attending.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Rhonda Jean (Timothy) Oletti of Cary, North Carolina, Delores (Patrick) Hacker of Decatur, Laurie (Edward) Childs of Dowagiac, Kim Sachjen of Michigan; one son, Timothy (Dawn) Sachjen of Edwardsburg; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Joseph Sachjen; one granddaughter, Cami Hemminger; two sisters, Irene Beyers, Mary Beyers, Sharon Warner; and one brother, Tommy Beyers.
Family and friends will gather Friday, August 2, 2024 from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.
Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
