Charles M. Steinhofer Jr., age 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away April 5, 2021, following a short illness. Charles was born December 13,1947, in South Bend, Indiana, the eldest child of Charles M and Dorothy (Celichowski) Steinhofer. He is survived by his sister Patrice (Mark) Tirio of Oak Forest, Illinois and brother Michael Steinhofer of Louisville, Kentucky.
After graduating from South Bend St. Joseph High School in 1966, Charles enrolled at the University of Louisville, fell in love with the city and never left. While at U of L, Charles joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He subsequently served in various Alumni Board positions until his death.
Charles worked for the Louisville chapter of the American Red Cross where he served as assistant director of the Transportation Department. Following his retirement, he joined the Wheels Organization serving the citizens of the region in the same capacity.
Charles touched the lives of so many throughout his career and long-term commitment to his fraternity as well as the Louisville community. He will be remembered by a large group of beneficiaries, friends and associates.
Mr. Steinhofer will be buried in Prospect Hills Cemetery, Cassopolis, Michigan, next to his beloved parents. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 12th, 2021 at 11 a.m. EDT (Michigan time).
