Cecil James Sheppard, Jr., 81, of Galesburg, died peacefully Saturday, June 14, 2025. His life began May 20, 1944 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the older of two sons born to Cecil James Sheppard, Sr. and Margaret Harriett Cornell.

Cecil will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by one brother, Dale Sheppard; one son, Larry Cowan; one daughter, Lisa Cowan Newsom; and the "family" of caregivers and other residents he had grown to love at the Laurels of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will gather Friday, June 27, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery, 401 Burgess Drive (North 36th Street) in Galesburg, Michigan to lay him to rest.
