Carol Jean Young

Carol Jean Young,78, of Cassopolis, went to be with her Lord, March 20,2025. Her life began May 8, 1946 in Mishawaka the first of six children. She married Clyde “Butch” Young Sr. on July 11, 1969 in Jones, Michigan.

Carol loved to cook, bake, sew and spending time in her garden.  Her and her husband Butch could often be found traveling the country together on their Honda Goldwing. Carol and her family spent many weekends, camping and canoeing especially on the Pine River. Recently, she found joy by doing meals on wheels with her sister and Thursday afternoon Euchre with her church friends. Her biggest joy was being a mom, grandma, and great grandma. Her greatest loves, were her husband of thirty- nine years and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carol will be greatly missed by family and friends.  She is survived by six daughters, Cheryl (David) Knepple of Vandalia, Mary (Michael Jackson) Brooks of Jackson, Julie (Malcolm) Hooker of Constantine, Sara (Steve) Lattuca of Naples Florida, Laura (Larry) Brewer of Dowagiac, her adopted great-grandchildren, Kierra (Cayden) Schlabach of Cassopolis; one son, JJ Young of Cassopolis; five grandchildren, Brandi, Terra, Josh, Blake, Morgan; twelve great grandchildren; five sisters, Linda (Robert) Brossman of Vandalia, Barbara (Paul) Mrozek of Vandalia, Christenne (Kenneth) Hodges of Hermansville, Rachel Russey of Elkhart, Becky (Keith) Beers of Vandalia, a host of nieces and nephews and her loving dog companion Maya. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde “Butch” Young Sr., son, Clyde D. Young Jr., grandson, Terry Lee Knepple, still born son, Max Eugene Young and her parents.

Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of life in Elkhart East Christian Church, 21851 Co Rd 4, Bristol, Indiana, on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Carol will be laid to rest in Shavehead cemetery at a later date. The family prefers contributions in memory of Carol be made to Dog Town Resort 11925 Co Rd 10, Middlebury, Indiana 46540 or Elkhart East Christian Church, 21851 Co Rd 4, Bristol, Indiana 46507
