Betty Ruth Rutz

Betty Ruth Rutz, 103, of Bellevue, Nebraska, formerly of Vandalia, Michigan, died Monday, May 25, 2026.

Her life began July 23, 1922, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, one of two children born to Edward and Margaret Blankner. She married Arthur Maynard Rutz September 13, 1942, in Benton Harbor, Michigan.  After sixty-nine years of marriage, he preceded her in death June 28, 2012.

Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends.  She is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Paul) Rath of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Sandra (Jason) Setzer of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ivette (Chuck) Margraves of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Michael (Carol) Rutz of Kalamazoo, Mario Rutz of Knoxville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Ryan (Rochelle) Rutz, Grace Rutz, Ian Setzer, Avery Setzer, Christina Margraves, Charlie Margraves; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Roger Rutz. 

Family and friends will gather Friday, June 12, 2026, from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.

Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband in North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma

The family prefers contributions in memory of Betty be made to the Cass County Council on Aging, Post Office Box 5, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031-0005.
