Albert Edward Leak

Albert “Sonny” Edward Leak, 85, of Cassopolis, died peacefully, January 17, 2026 in the comfort of his family’s presence.  His life began April 4, 1940, in Goshen, Indiana the first of three children born to Levi and Wanetta Leak.

Albert worked for Forest Fiberglass making RVs. Using those skills, he would build campers for the back of his truck. He also loved driving in the demolition derby both in Cassopolis and New Paris. Albert loved being outside. He spent many hours hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed salmon fishing and camping up north with his family and friends. His children have special memories of him playing guitar and singing with them.                       

Albert will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by two daughters, Debra Watts of Cassopolis, Linda Leak of Goshen; one son, David (Vicky) Leak of Goshen; eight grandchildren, Melissa Watts of Cassopolis, Michael Higgins of Cassopolis, Christina (Branden) Higgins Smith of Cassopolis, James Leak of Goshen, Stephanie Smith of Constantine, Candy Ann (Bobby) Heath of Sturgis, Avery (Mikayla) Rickey of Illinois, Mickayla Sage of Vandalia; many great grandchildren; two great-great grand-children, Arabella Brumbelow, Ashton Jerraid; one sister, Evelyn (Arthur) Smoot of Elkhart; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife and long- time friend, Mary Lou Leak and his sister, Mary Jane Hughes.         

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis.

Albert will be laid to rest in Edwardsburg Cemetery.
