Obituary

Obituary of Nancy P. Hettinga
Nancy Pearl Hettinga, age 75, of New Buffalo, Michigan died peacefully Sunday evening, May 26, 2019, in her residence.

She was born July 6, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the second oldest of five children, and was raised in Marshall, Michigan.

Nancy was a longtime resident of Three Oaks and New Buffalo where she enjoyed a lifetime of serving others and is beloved by everyone who has met her. Many people may have met her at one of her restaurants – Nancy’s – originally in Three Oaks and then in New Buffalo. Nancy dedicated her career in the restaurant industry until retiring at age 70. Most importantly was her love and sacrifice she gave to her children and grandchildren. Nancy made everyone she came in contact with feel special and loved.

Nancy will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Wendi (Robert) Nahikian of Kalamazoo; two sons, Bob Lewis of Paw Paw, Steve Hetttinga of Ste. Sault Marie; four grandchildren, Justice Hill, Alexandra Lewis, Justin Nahikian, Reed Nahikian; two sisters, Paula (Bob) Beller, Barb Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Rivers; daughter, Jody Harris; and two brothers, John Eipper and Bobby Hutchins.

Family and friends will gather Friday, May 31, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. in Converge Community Church, 601 West Buffalo Street, New Buffalo, Michigan 49117.

The family prefers contributions be made in memory of Nancy to Harbor Country Food Pantry, Post Office Box 113, Three Oaks, Michigan 49128.

Just loved Nancy. Such a happy person, kind to everyone and always smiling. My mother, Eleanor Skora worked with Nancy for many years. Those two were always laughing and having fun when ever they were together. She will be
missed by all of New Buffalo and Three Oaks. Rest in Peace dear Nancy.
